Education
Education has to be center-stage in any economic development because of its long term
implications. I do not believe that the allocation of money is the answer. We need to do the following:
Give parents school choice (public or charter), have an external audit to identify useful and wasteful spending, direct more resources to the classrooms, impose a zero-tolerance standard to kids for disruptive behavior, and offer our teachers competitive salaries.

One last question before election day:
How is school choice an answer in PG count? It is unfortunate but true, that there are precious few high performing schools in the county, and those that are are over crowded (such as Whitehall elementary in Bowie). Private schools are very expensive, and even a stipend would only help for Catholic schools (the least expensive option). For those whose income is to low for a stipend to help, or for parents who would choose not to send a child to a religious institution, we are still left out. To me this doesn't seem to provide a solution.
I agree that eduction is the central issue that will drive our success as a nation in the 21st century, I just think that the bigger issue is poor performance, and creating solutions to improve (such as full day kinder...)performance is the prime issue.
